Hachiko - Inspirational Story

Image
Hachiko Let’s roll back 86 years. Hachiko ((ハチ公), white male dog of Akita breed, was born in 1923 on a farm near the city of Odate in Akita prefecture on the north of Honshu. Nearly a year later he was brought to Tokyo by his owner, Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor of agriculture at the University of Tokyo Every morning when Ueno went to work, Hachiko (also called Hachi) saw him off at the front door and waited for him in late afternoon on the same spot at the nearby Shibuya Station. This has become their daily routine. The tragedy occured in May of 1925 when Hachiko was eighteen months old. That day the professor didn’t arrive by train as usual. At the university he suffered a stroke. He died and never came back to the station where his friend was waiting for him. After Ueno’s death, Hachiko was given away to new owners but he escaped every time, returning to his old home where he used to live with his master. When Hachiko eventually realized that the professor didn’t live there

Movie Review

"Goal! The Dream Begins" is a rags-to-riches sports saga containing all the usual elements, arranged in the usual ways, and yet it's surprisingly effective. We have the kid from Mexico who dreams of soccer stardom, his impoverished life in Los Angeles as an undocumented immigrant, his dad who scorns soccer, his grandmother who believes in him, the scout who gets him a tryout with a top British team, the superstar who befriends him, and even a pretty nurse. There is also a great deal of soccer, some of it looking real, some of it not. The movie works because it is, above all, sincere. It's not sports by the numbers. The starring performance by Kuno Becker is convincing and dimensional and we begin to care for him. He plays Santiago Munez, a busboy in a Los Angeles Chinese restaurant, who plays in an after-work soccer league so deprived that he wears cardboard shin protectors. Then he's spotted by a former soccer pro (Stephen Dillane), who tells him he has p

Mt Sinabung eruption, Sunday, September 15, 2013

Image
Mt Sinabung in Sumatra has erupted around 3 am on Sunday, September 15, 2013 dusting ash up to 50 kilometers from the volcano, prompting evacuations of thousands of people living near the volcano. There were no sign of increased earthquakes prior to the eruption; however, PVMBG (Indonesia’s volcano monitoring agency) mentioned a small (~150 m) plume from the volcano along with a few hundred small earthquakes since mid August. The PVMBG has raised the alert status at Sinabung to Level III (of IV) due to this new activity; an evacuation zone of ~3 km has been set up around the volcano. The characteristics of the 2,460-m volcano's eruptions are relatively unknown because it has been quiet for over 400 years before the eruption in 2010. The eruptions during 2010 was unexpected because the volcano was not even being monitored as potentially active volcano at the time. Bandung Should not Build New Road

There are many things that confused people in Bandung. One of those problems is bad quality of road problem. Yeah Bandung is a big city which contains million people, and to satisfying the needs of good service, the governments have a plan to build a new road. I think there are other ways to improve in that case. At least, there are two things why Bandung should not build new road. Firstly, there are already many roads in Bandung. As we can see, Bandung has a lot of road, but none of it is efficient. Road in Bandung is an old Netherlands made and has it function based on Netherlands government. If we prepare to build a new road, what about our children? Will they have a house? I think not. What we can do today is to improve the efficiency of this old road. Secondly, we have limited money. Bandung maybe have a lot of money, but should we use that money only to make another road? I think that unnecessary. There are a lot of problem in this city and we must use the government should
